The shock absorber dust cover (also known as dust boot, protective cover) is an important protective component in the automotive suspension system. Installed outside the shock absorber piston rod, it prevents dust, sand, water vapor and other impurities from entering the shock absorber, protecting the oil seal and piston rod from corrosion and wear.

Shock absorber dust covers should be inspected and replaced every 60,000-80,000 km or 4-5 years. If damage, cracking, aging or hardening of the dust cover is found, it should be replaced promptly.
When the dust cover is damaged, sand and dust will directly enter the shock absorber, wearing the piston rod surface and oil seal, leading to shock absorber oil leakage, decreased damping force, abnormal noise and other problems.
