Grease Selection for Strut Bearings: Balancing Heat, Cold and Water
Role of Grease
Grease forms a film, separates metal and resists rust and water - without bleeding at heat or hardening in cold.
Requirements
- Heat stable: No bleed under braking or summer heat
- Cold start: Stays soft in winter for light steering
- Water resistant: Protects after washing or wading
- EP anti-wear: For high-frequency boundary conditions
Common Types
- Lithium: General purpose, cost-effective
- Lithium complex / polyurea: Better heat and life - OE common
- Solid-additive greases: Extreme conditions
Fill Amount
- Too little: wear
- Too much: churning and heat
- Typically 25-35% of internal space
Huami Tip
Right grease needs the right amount - Huami controls fill by weight on the assembly line.
