Fixing Uneven Tire Wear: From Alignment Data to Replacement
Wear Is a Symptom
Uneven wear usually reflects chassis issues - replacing tires alone brings it back.
Match Pattern to Cause
- Even inner or outer: Camber out
- One-edge sawtooth: Toe off
- Local patches: Balance or loose suspension
- Center wear: High pressure; both edges: low
- Diagonal: Alignment or frame
Fix Steps
- Measure alignment (toe, camber, caster)
- Check joints, bushings and shocks for play
- Repair first, then adjust
- Balance and check wheels
- Set correct pressure
- Rotate regularly
Replacement
- Replace below 1.6 mm
- Typically 30-50k km or at wear indicators
- Replace aged tires (over 5 years) regardless
Huami Tip
Wear often stems from aged mounts or bushings shifting alignment - fix the chassis to cure it.
