Causes
- Raceway wear and grease failure
- Aged cracked rubber
- Torn boot letting in grit
- Poor installation
Diagnosis
- Low-speed turning - listen for clunk
- Creak over bumps
- Lift, check rubber and bearing play
- Rule out sway links and ball joints
Replacement Points
- Spring compressor and torque wrench
- Remove assembly, compress, swap bearing
- Mind orientation, reassemble in order
- Torque, then align
- Replace in pairs
