Toyota Corolla Strut Bearing Replacement Guide
Common Issue
Corollas 5-8 years old often pop/clunk when turning at standstill - worn strut bearing or aged rubber.
Confirm
- Noise turning in place (louder at the arch outside)
- Creak at tower over bumps
- Lift: open dust cap, turn bearing - catch/play
OE Reference
- OE varies by year (e.g. 48609-0D080 etc.) - confirm by VIN
- Some years: bearing and mount separate, some integral
Steps
- Remove cowl/tower cover (Corolla needs cowl removal)
- Compress spring before center nut
- Install with orientation mark, torque to spec
- Align afterwards
