Car Sitting Uneven: Causes of Suspension Sag
Common Causes
- Broken spring: Most common, obvious drop
- Spring fatigue: Sag from long-term loading
- Failed shocks: Affects bounce more than height
- Collapsed mount/spring seat: Crushed rubber
- Air suspension leak: (luxury cars) damaged bag
Diagnosis
- Measure arch heights on level ground (>20-30mm difference)
- Inspect springs for breaks (usually at end coil)
- Bounce test for shocks
- Lift and check mounts, seats, arm bushings
Fixes
- Broken/fatigued springs: replace in pairs
- Collapsed mount: replace assembly
- Align after replacement
