Why Machined Parts Rust

Fresh machined surfaces are highly active and rust fast with moisture - worse in sea freight (humidity + salt).

Methods

• Rust preventive oil: Short term, cheap, needs cleaning later
• VCI (vapor corrosion inhibitor): Long term (6-24 months)
• VCI bags/paper: Better with desiccant
• Vacuum packing: For high-value precision parts

Export Packing

• Clean and degrease, then protect immediately (fingerprints rust)
• Cover transit + storage (2-6 weeks sea + stock)
• Carton + pallet, moisture film wrap
• Mark moisture symbols, batch numbers
