Clunk Over Speed Bumps: Full Chassis Noise Diagnosis
Usual Suspects
- Sway bar links: Ball joint play - most common clunk
- Control arm bushings: Cracked, separated rubber
- Strut mounts: Collapsed rubber, bearing play
- Shocks: Internal looseness, loose top nut
- Springs: Broken or shifted (car leans)
- Brake calipers/splash shields: Loose metal rattle
Diagnosis (Simple to Complex)
- Bounce the car, isolate corner
- Lift, pry each joint/bushing for play
- Check sway bar links (rock the wheel)
- Check mounts for sag, shocks for leaks
- Retorque chassis bolts
Tips
- Combine bounce + pry; do not shotgun parts
- Sway links are cheap - replace first if suspect
- Huami supplies links, bushings, mounts - full chassis range
