Strut bearing: Thrust bearing inside the mount enabling steering rotation.

Relationship

• Mount assembly = mount rubber + bearing
• Steering noise = bearing; bump noise = rubber
• Often replaced together (same labor)

Which to Replace?

• "Pop" when steering → bearing
• Dull thud over bumps, cracked rubber → mount
• Both bad → replace assembly
